Sensex live down by 142 points

The market has lost further ground as strong selling continued in the selective scrips mainly led by the FMCG, Metal and Pharma stocks. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE small Cap also given up their gains and slipped below to trade in the negative territory.

The overall market breadth is negative, as 909 stocks are advancing whereas 1669 stocks that are declining.

Mahindra & Mahindra reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading higher by (4.22%) at Rs.586.50 while ITC the top loser down by (3.10%) at Rs.214.70.

At 2.31PM BSE Sensex is at 15,627.29 down by 142.43 points and Nifty is at 4,644.25 down by 32.70 points.

The BSE Mid Cap is lower by 30.25 points to 6,370.04 and the Small Cap dropped marginally by 0.17 points to 7,735.42.

The BSE Power index is one of the top performer, trading with a gain of 26.47 points at 2,734.96. The main gainers are Suzlon Energy up by (5.19%) at Rs.282.55, Tata Power increased by (2.73%) at Rs.1290.90 followed by Crompton Greaves and GVK Power inclined by (2.02%) and (0.81%) to Rs.242.20 and Rs.43.75.

The most active shares on NSE are Reliance trading at Rs.2258.90 with a total traded quantity of 3781222 shares followed by Reliance Capital trading at Rs.1146 with a total traded quantity of 2834898 shares.

Cairn India is trading higher by (8.41%) at Rs.286.30. The company has secured rights to explore oil and natural gas deposits off Sri Lanka's coast.
